The Holiday season effects everyone in different ways. Some love this time of year of friends and family gatherings while other would like to have a good time without the pressure of gift exchanges, minute by minute updates of where to find the latest must have toy or fruit cake.

Here are some holiday get together ideas that should satifiy your need to be the host of the season while giving everyone a safe haven of fun and merriment with a non-traditional twist.
  1. Potluck dinner for singles. Invite five single friends over for a potluck dinner and have each of one of them invite one single friend of the opposite sex. Meet new people and mingle during appetizers.
  2. Wine and cheese party. Go to the local discount wine shop and buy a few bottles of wine and stop by the grocery store to buy different varieties of cheese. Invite five to ten friends over and have each person bring their favorite bottle of wine. This is a fun and fairly inexpensive party idea.
  3. Ladies only dinner. Invite your girlfriends to a “naughty” gift exchange party. Each woman should bring lingerie or sex toys for the exchange. This is a great idea for women who want to spice up their annual women’s holiday get together.
  4. Charity holiday party. Each person should bring twenty dollars to the holiday party to donate to a charity. Each invitee is allowed to make an argument for the charity that they feel should receive the money and all guests vote which charity will be the recipient of the donation.
  5. Ethnic food party. This party idea is ideal for a diverse group of people who want to learn about other cultures. Have each person bring a dish that they serve during the holidays and recipe cards that people can take with them when they leave.
  6. Gentlemen’s party. Get the guys together for a cigar and scotch party. Draw names to exchange the cigars. Add a poker game to make things more interesting.
